Who voices Ambrosius the octopus in The Boys? -

The Boys season 4 has well and truly delivered on emotional twists and turns, from Butcher grappling with his own mortality to Hughie's dad's storyline to the generally horrendous vibes festering at Vought International. Truly, if we were Senior VP Ashley, we'd be plotting our escape from the conglomerate too.

But among those storylines is an unlikely love story. The love of an aquatic superhero (and expert swimmer, lest we forget) and his octopus lady friend.

Among The Deep's powers is his ability to communicate with sea creatures, with many becoming his friends and confidants, including Ambrosius. We first meet the octopus in season three after a fling between the pair, though in season 4 we see The Deep assuring his fellow colleagues that “the octopus” has since been dealt with.

Later on we see that this is in fact not true, with Ambrosius living in a tank at the back of The Deep's wardrobe. But what fans of the show were left wondering most from the interaction is who is the voice of Ambrosius?

The Boys has no shortage of star power when it comes to its cast, from Avatar actor Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk to Gossip Girl alum Chase Crawford as The Deep. Though nothing could have prepared us to learn who is responsible for the voice of Ambrosius.

Yes, the Tilda Swinton.

No stranger to the world of superheroes, Swinton plays Ancient One in Doctor Strange and Avengers: Endgame, though you no doubt also know her from her roles in We Need to Talk About Kevin, Okja, I Am Love and countless others.

Oh, and did we mention that she also won an Oscar in 2007 for Best Supporting Actress in Michael Clayton?

We're clearly not the only ones shocked by this revelation of her role as Ambrosius in The Boys, with Chase Crawford saying on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that he "couldn't believe" Swinton had agreed to the role, jokingly adding “I thought she was high or something."
