As New York’s senate continues its sessions on the pending gay marriage bill there, Current TV’s Keith Olbermann decided to dig into the debate during Thursday’s “Special Comment” on Countdown with Keith Olbermann.
Olbermann took issue with those who are against the bill on the platform of family values, the behavior of the Christian church, and predicts that gay marriage will become universal in a decade, because young people would find it inconsequential.
“This is, corny as it seems, is not about politics or religion or power or lobbying,” he says. “It is about LOVE. In a time of impermanence and fly-by-night relationships these people over here want the same chance at permanence and happiness that is already yours.”
“They don’t want to deny you yours,” he continues. “They don’t want to take anything away from you. They want what you want: a chance to be a little less alone in the world. And your acceptance of their love turns out to be your own expression of love to your fellow human beings.”
